The general location of the land is shown coloured orange on the Identification Plan at Annex A. The Secretary for the New Territories is satisfied that the private land to be resumed is the minimum necessary to implement this project and estimates that the total cost of resumption and clearance will be about $710, 600. Funds are available in the approved project vote to meet this expenditure.

The clearance will also involve Crown land and requires the payment of compensation for crops, fruit trees, pine trees, potted flowers and ex-gratia allowance for cultivators, pig and poultry breeders and compensation for the removal of fences, pipelines and water tanks.

4

Eighteen temporary structures (sixteen on Crown land and two on private land) used for domestic purposes and situated within the resumption/clearance limits will have to be cleared. These temporary structures are occupied by twenty-one families. The displaced families, if found eligible, will be offered public housing in Sha Tin, or, if found ineligible for public housing will be offered space in a Licensed Area in Sha Tin.

In addition to the eighteen temporary structures mentioned above, a total of thirty-eight other ancillary temporary structures including one shop have also to be removed. Ex-gratia allowance for
