S

2

Although negotiations to acquire the land are being conducted with the owners, these are not progressing expeditiously and it is quite possible that satisfactory agreements will not be ob- tained within the time scale set for commencement of works. It is, therefore, recommended that the areas of land shown shaded beige on the plan as annexed should be resumed in accordance with the provisions of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance. Funds are available within the approved project estimate to meet the cost of resumption.

Publicity

6

If the recommendation at paragraph 5 above is approved, notice will be published in the Government Gazette in accordance with section 4 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance, and in the press.

Advice Sought

7

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the portions of Inland Lots Numbers 645 Section A Remaining Portion and 646 Remaining Portion shaded beige on the plan as annexed, is required for a public purpose, namely the Robinson Road/Old Peak Road and Robinson Road/ Glenealy junction improvements.

(The Deputy Secretary for the Environment (Mr G. BARNES) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
