Operators of workshops cleared from Cottage Areas, operators of industrial undertakings operated under the cover of structures previously covered by Crown Land Licence/Modification of Tenancy and structures included in the 1976 Squatter Control Survey or relevant district surveys in the New Territories but not including undertakings covered by Short Term Tenancy except where such tenancy supersedes a Crown Land Licence. Includes industrial operators cleared from Class III Licensed Areas.

Industrial undertakings including boatyards operated partially or wholly in the open on land covered by Crown Land Licence or on Crown 1 nd containing a structure covered by the 1976 Squatter Control Survey or relevant district surveys in the New Territories equating to the 1976 Survey but excluding undertakings covered by Short Term Tenancy except where the tenancy supersedes

Previous Rates

Minimum allowance of $6,000 payable on working areas between 50 and 300 sq.ft. with an additional allow- ance of $20 per sc. ft. thereafter subject to a maximum of $100,000. No allow- ance is payable on areas below 50 sq.ft.

(i) Covered Area : Minimum allow- ance of $6,000 payable on cover- ed areas and boatyard slipways between 50 and 300 sq.ft. plus an additional

allowance of $20 per sq.ft. there- after subject to a maximum of $100,000.

Revised Rates

(i) minimum allow- ance of $7,000 payable on work- ing areas between 50 to 200 sq.ft.

(ii) one bed space for watchman and stairways, passages and office space within the structure should attract allowance.

(iii) the rate of $20

per sq.ft. remains unchanged.

(iv) maximum limit of $100,000 remains unchanged.

Same as for (5) (The rate of $7 per sq.ft. for open working areas remains unchanged).

Main Reason

for Revision

No further flatted factory units can be made available for approx. 2 years. To avoid hardship and to ensure smooth clearance, the rates for covered areas have been raised to assist to the maximum extent the medium operators who will suffer most.
