Management staff of the Housing Department are therefore confident that, with the support of Government as with the shop rent increase in 1976, the increase proposed will be accepted by the factory tenants and the general public. The Secretary for Home Affairs and the Director of Home Affairs have been consulted and they suggest both the quantum of increase and the proposed timing are acceptable.

Advice sought

13

Honourable Members are asked to consider whether the quantum of the proposed increase as well as its timing are acceptable. Their support or otherwise would be crucial to any decision the Housing Authority is going to take on this issue.

(The Secretary for Housing (Acting) (Mr D. P. H. LIAO) and the Deputy Director (Estate Management) of the Housing Department (Mr H. R. HUSBAND) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
