HONG KONG VISAS FOR EAST EUROPEANS

1. In paragraph 4 of my letter 348/1 of 14 October I said that a Bulgarian had claimed that a former Czech Commercial Counsellor, Alfred Kover, had visited Hong Kong annually for several years before he came to Hanoi but had had difficulty in obtaining a visa after his arrival in Vietnam.

2. I yesterday had cause to browse through our visa book for 1976 and there found that Mr Kover and his wife Irena were issued with a visa endorsed 2 IMM/CR 1/1292/C III on 20 March 1976 entitling them to visit Hong Kong for three days. Mr and Mrs Kover were also issued with visas on 17 October 1972 for a five day visit. So it seems that he did not have insuperable difficulty in obtaining visas for Hong Kong through our Embassy here.
