from 1961 to 1974. Apart from this the family has not established any close connection or business interests with Hong Kong. The Director of Immigration has made enquiries in Ho Chi Minh City about the family's circumstances but has not found any grounds which would justify altering his earlier decision.

Honourable Members are asked to advise, under section 53 of the Immigration Ordinance (Chapter 115) whether the decision of the Director of Immigration not to allow Mr Tan, his wife and children born outside of Hong Kong, to enter Hong Kong should be maintained or reversed.
(The Director of Immigration (Mr J. M. ROWLANDS) will be standing by in case Honourable Members should wish to ask him any questions).
