naigrant from China who is inturespted when Lecompting to enter the Colony by swimming or by boat; or is
errested by or surrenders to the Polles, will in future normally be teken by the Police directly to the Immigration Clearança Centre at Te Ku Ling there he will be examined under Sect bon 4(1)(a) of the hamigration Ordinance as a person arriving in thee Colony.
Sometimes, however, immigration officers will b required to conduct such examinations at other places selected by the Police.

As with other persons arriving in the Colony, decision will have to be teken (under Section 11(1) of the Ordinance) to grant or refuse par.ission to land within 48 hours from the ting of Police intercoption (as required by Section 27).

In accordance with the detailed procedures described later in this Order, an immigrent granted permission to lend will be taken to Yuen Long For further processing. An immigrant who is refused permission to land will be removed to China.
4.
The aim is that no immigrent who is to be returned to China shall be kept for more than 48 hours in custody in long Kong. This will require immigration officers to conduct examinations at any hour of the day and night, on 7 days a week, if necessary.

On the completion of initial Police reception formalities at Te Ku Ling Police Station, an immigrant will be detained in that Station. irrangements will be made for him to be brought by himself to the Immigration reception room for processing. Here the A10(TCC) wil! :-
a) photograph the subject and affix the photograph to - the top copy of the Immigration Interview Report (1,D. _______);
(b) complete details of name, age, sex and marital status in Part ky and all Part 0, of the Interview Report in duplicete (carbon copy);
(c) pass the immigrent to 10(TCC) together with
(i) (ii)
form 1.9.
in duplicate;
any travel document or other identifying papers which the immigrant may have with him.
Screening and Decision on Return

The purpose of screening is to obtain as complete
a picture as possible of the illegal immigrant's background
and his reason for wanting to come to Hong Kong in order to decide if he is to be repatriated or not. Apart from such questioning as is necessary to obtain personal particulars or to clarify
