When we spoke on Thursday I said I would send you a draft agreed between Mr John Roper and myself of what was said at our meeting on 7 December. This I can now enclose.
As I said on the telephone I am very sorry that I allowed myself to be persuaded by Reuters' man that your office had referred him to me and that I therefore gave him what I believed was a true account of our meeting.
I was of course unaware that the press receives daily a list of the Minister's appointments.
