Angola

23. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvin asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he bas had with EEC countries regarding Angola.

Mr. James Callaghan : There is a regu- lar exchange of views on Africa within the political co-operation machinery of the community and Angola has been of recent concern.

Iceland (Fisheries Dispute)

26. Mr. McNamara asked the Secre- tary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs whether he will make a further alalcinent on the Icelandic falling dispute.

30. Mr. Eldon Grilliths asked the Secre- tary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs if he will make a stateinent on the fisheries dispute with Iceland.

Mr. James Callaghan: I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement on the fisheries dispute with Iceland which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister made this afternoon.

Falkland Islands

27. Mr. Luce asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth ... Affairs if he will make a statement on the most recent developments with regard to the relationship between the Falkland Islands and the United Kingdom.

Mr. James Callaghan : There have been no recent developments in the relation- ship between the Falkland Islands and the United Kingdom.

35. Mr. Goodhart asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will hold a referen- dum in the Falkland Islands to ascertain whether the inhabitants wish to maintain their link with the United Kingdom.

Mr. Rowlands: No. Her Majesty's Government are well aware of the wishes of the islanders in this respect. A refendum would serve no useful purpose.

Law of the Sea Conference

28. Mr. Henderson asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the Governinent's proposals for the next session of the United Nations Law et the Sea Conference.

Mr. Ennals: The Government have been engaged since the end of the Geneva session of the Conference in a wide-rang- ing series of contacts and consultations on the issues before the Conference. We are now actively preparing our position for the next session of the Conference, which will be held in New York from 15th March to 7th May 1976. Our overall policy will remain that of work- ing for early agreement on a Convention generally acceptable to all States.

Argentina

29. Mr. Newton asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a further statement on British representation in Argentina. and the position of British subjects at present detained in that country.

Mr. Rowlands: Her Majesty's Ambas- sador at Buenos Aires has now returned for consultations. The Embassy remains under a Charge d'Affaires.

Every effort is being made to secure the release of Mr. and Mrs. Whitecross.

North Africa

31. Mr. Tugendhat asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has any plans to visit North Africa.

Mr. Ennals: My right hon. Friend does not at present have plans to visit North Africa.

33. Sir Anthony Royle asked the Sec- retary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs what were the monthly figures for illegal immigrants who arrived
