MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
FORE
Immigration Ordinance
(Chapter 115)
IMMIGRATION (AMENDMENT) (NO 4) REGULATIONS 1977
AFF
On 21st December 1976, after considering memorandum XCR(76)262, the Council advised and the Governor ordered: "that, subject to further consideration being given to the layout of the English and Chinese versions of Forms number 8 and 8A, the Immigration (Amendment) (No 3) Regulations 1976 should be made under section 59 of the Immigration Ordinance (Chapter 115)",
2
The layouts of Forms number 8 and 8A have now been revised to provide for separate English and Chinese versions of both forms. At the same time, Form No 8A has been amended to provide for the execution of the recognisance before a magistrate's clerk and for endorsement by a sworn interpreter to the effect that the contents of the form have been explained to the person or persons entering into recognisance. This is a standard provision in forms prescribed for recognisance under the Magistrates Ordinance (Chapter 227).
3
The revised Forms No 8 and 8A are now provided in the Immigration (Amendment) (No 4) Regulations 1977, as annexed.
4
Honourable Members will be asked to advise whether, under section 59 of the Immigration Ordinance (Chapter 115), the Immigration (Amendment) (No 4) Regulations 1977 (annexed), incor- porating the amendments advised, should be made, the amending regulations originally proposed as the Immigration (Amendment) (No 3) Regulations 1976 being withdrawn.
(The Director of Immigration (Mr J. M. ROWLANDS) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
