"British" persons (who are mostly Commonwealth people) in various parts of the world. It even expresses doubt whether it is necessary to let Commonwealth people continue to be "British".

The British economy has been in a slump in recent years, and racial problems in the country have become more acute than ever. During the past year the "National Front" formed by non-white immigrants in the United Ïingdom has become even more powerful; racial tensions in London, Bradford and other areas with non-white settlements are threatening to erupt to the surface; racial homicides, gang fights and other such cases have been piling up; and the Home Secretary has to intervene personally. vidently the British authori ties have to heed the deteriorating racial relations in the country and are trying to prevent another flare-up similar to the Pakibashing riots in the sixties.

Lof Indian descent

Six months ago a group of persons/in East Africa, holding "United Kingdom and Colonies Citizenships, were under the pressure of the government of the country they were born and had grown up in and left the said country for a long journey to the United Kingdom, the only country they could identify as their "home

country. When they arrived there, the British Government accommodated them temporarily in a "Three-Star hotel near the London airport. But this had in no time aroused resentment in a

number of Britishers, who staged a demonstration outside the

hotel, protesting that the British Government had been wasting public money on these East African immigrants who were being treated too well. As a result of this incident, the importance

of the connections between non-whites' immigration and racial rolations was finally widely recognised by both the government and the public.

It is for these reasons that the British Government is

anxious to get off her neck the albatross left her by a disintegrated capire. She hopes that, by giving "British Citizenship" a new definition and by turning it into written law, she can impose new restrictions on the entry rights of persons from former colonies and solve the problem once and for

all.
