Here again, the great majority of untrained teachers are in private schools, but only 23% of all secondary school teachers are untrained non-graduates. With the expansion of junior and senior secondary education in the public sector over the next few years, it is likely that a number of the less satisfactory private independent secondary schools will be forced to close. Opportunities will be provided for the untrained teachers in these schools to attend part-time in-service training courses at the Colleges of Education so that they can be absorbed into schools in the public sector.
