Government's Intention:
We are well aware that the government has also intended to safeguard the Clock Tower.
Simultaneously in our afore mentioned letter to the Secretary for the Enviroment (our ref. SE/75/222), we had raised the subject of preserving the tower. In response the department had taken trouble to inform us of the Government's favourable intention.

Prior to that, on May 11, 1970 the Kowloon Residents' Association (then presided by the undersigned as President) had appealed to the Colonial Secretary on the same theme, and got a kind reply which assured that the Clock Tower should be retained. For your easy reference, we cordially enclose copies of these self-explanatory letters.

Take for example we remember Sir Mathew Nathan for laying down Nathan Road; we also remember major events like Duke of Edinburgh's having come to inaugurate the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and that the foundation stone of Princess Margaret
