PURPOSE

ENVIRONMENT BRANCH PROGRESS REPORT

1ST AUGUST 1976 TO 31 ST OCTOBER 1976

(a) To recommend the terms of

reference for a feasibility study of North-East Lantao to include the siting of a second airport at Chek Lap Kok, the role of Lantao in the territory's development, and the role of a bridge in this development. (b) To prepare a draft Ex.Co.

paper recommending that the study should be under- taken.

(c) To act as a Steering Group

for the Study Team.

(a) To examine the feasibility of proceeding with the offer of Kumagai Gumi.

PART II

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION

The Steering Group has met 3 times. A layout plan for the land use on Lantao has been prepared by T.P.O., has gone through P.W.D. Conference and will be ready for the Group by the end of November. A computer re-run of the Comprehensive Transport Study is planned to establish the traffic implications of a bridge with or without an air- port. The input data for the tests have been agreed.
