PURPOSE

(a) To implement the approved

recommendations of the Panel of Experts and consultants made in their reports on their special investigations into fill slopes.

(b) To draw up recommendations

arising from the reports of the PWD Special Team on their inspection of slopes in the vicinity of squatter areas.

(c) To consider the report of the

working party on the type of organisation required to inspect

(b) The investigation by the PWD Special Team has been completed. A total of 15 reports were submitted. Action is in hand to establish a simple early warning system for squatter areas based on rainfall data and predictions from the Royal Observatory.

December 1976. A special Duties Unit (Geotechnical Control) has been
