Shipyards on West Tsing Yi Island

Purpose

To complete land grants to Island Navigation Corporation Limited.

Progress Made & Present Position

Next Quarter Targets

Following ExCo's approval of the grant of two sites at Tsing Yi to Euroasia Dockyard and Construction Works Ltd. (e combination of Island Navigation, Chung Wah and Burmeister and Wain), Island Navigation applied for another site at Tsing Yi in exchange for their special acquisi- tion area land amounting to about 550,000 sq.ft. The application was considered at the NT Lands Meeting on 14th June, and the grant of a site of apprc. 323,000 sq.ft. on a 5:2 exchange basis was approved. This would leave a further site of about 33,000 sq.ft. still to be granted to cover the remainder of the land being surrendered. A further area is being investigated in District Office, Tsuen Wan.

Complete exchange of land.
