Dear Patrick,
618
When I was at the ICVA Conference last
week the question of Indo-Chinese refugees – particularly the " boat people" from Vietnam-was discussed.
Several people told me that they had heard
that British owned boats were amongst those which were passing by these little ships and even people drowning
in the sea without doing anything to help them.
I wonder if you have any means of finding
out whether this is true and if so, is there any action
which the Government can take to ensure that this does not
happen again and ships are instructed by their owners
to pick up these refugees and take them to the nearest
port or at any rate to a port which the ships are bound for.
Many thanks for sending us the Christmas cards.
I hope this will reach you in time to bring good wishes
I
for Christmas and the New Year ?
I hope to see you shortly after Christmas
