(i) Although there are still cases of
detention without trial arising from peasant action in protest at the slow pace of agrarian reform, the situation is improving.
(ii) There is some evidence of torture of
peasants but also steps taken against those responsible for such acts.

(iii) Slavery does not exist.
(iv)
Although temporarily under military rule, Honduras allows a wide degree of freedom of expression.
(v) There are few signs that constitutional
judicial processes are being impeded.
(vi) While the authorities have shown their
readiness at times to take violent action against organised labour, particularly in the rural areas, free trades unions operate and an attempt is being made to involve them in Government decision-making.
(vii)
Since there is no requirement for passports and other documents for travel in Central America, free emigration is possible.
