There is no Habeas Corpus rule, so arrested persons can and do spend long periods in jail awaiting trial while their case is being investigated.

There is no censorship as such nor any restriction on freedom of speech. All the media are expected to maintain a proper standard of public decency and are subject to the restrictions of the Penal Code as regards military, banking and commercial
secrecy.
