There are no restrictions on the freedom of speech of the press, television and radio, except for laws about obscenity.
Apart from the protection afforded by the constitution, the appointments of Supreme Court judges are subject to confirmation by popular vote at each election with specific reference to their record in protecting the constitution.

The only restriction on trade union freedom is that Public Service unions do not have the right to strike; but this question is being re-examined and the Government takes a conciliatory attitude.
