An observer from the Greenwich Theatre drew attention
to the Granada TV film in which children were not depicted
as being particularly unhappy. He thought the play was
one-sided and disturbing.
Mr. Parnaby commented that he had originally thought
the play to be a "very heavy programme" which would go over the heads of the children but he had been impressed to see the children's "total attention". (He was referring
to an earlier performance before children).
Mr. Easey and Mr. Porter were the only speakers who
revealed a particular interest in Hong Kong affairs. Mr. Porter said that Hong Kong Government Office information gave the impression that there were no problems such as child labour in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Government was

the play succeeded by probing and that a balanced view was
not necessary in a play of this kind.
Mr. Easey said the Hong Kong Research group was not a group of socialists but a group of "radical Christians" collaborating to promote knowledge of Hong Kong.
It had set
itself up as an opposition to Government and business interests.
