Enforcement of the Hong Kong Airport

(Control of Obstructions) Ordinance in the Kowloon Walled City

Recommendations

It is recommended that:

(a) The Committee should approve in principle a

(b)

proposal to reduce to statutory limits buildings

in Kowloon Walled City which exceed the height

restrictions under the Hong Kong Airport

(Control of Obstructions) Ordinance;

the following consecutive steps should be taken

to prepare for the reduction of building heights:

(i)

detailed consideration should be given

to the need for a special unit to be set

up to prepare for and carry out the exercise

and to the size, composition and location

of the unit;

(ii)

acceptance by the Finance Committee of the

financial implications, in terms of the

recurrent cost of the unit referred to in (i)

and the non-recurrent costs to which the

exercise could give rise, should be sought;

(iii)

the special unit should be set up;

(iv)

the C.P.G. should be advised through the

N.C.N.A. of the H.K.G.'s intentions;
