Operation Outline for Stage I

1) The Problem:

Building E is situated at Nos.

36-38, West City Road.

Its present height is 178 ft. 6 in. Since it is within the 150 ft. P.D. zone it has exceeded the prescribed height limit by 28 ft. 6 in. which must be reduced. The building is 12 storeys high of which the top 3 storeys would have to be demolished in order to conform with the height restriction thus affecting a total of 6 building units, cach estimated to about 400 sq. ft. in area. The total floor crea affected amounts to approximately 2,400 sq. ft. It is estimated that about 6 households omprising about 48 persons will be dispossessed. The building has existed for about 4 years. financial commitment based on the recommended formula of ex-gratia compensation would be in the region of $0.24 million to $0.27 million in addition to ex-gratia cash compensation to be determined by the T.I.B. of C. R. &V. Approximately 9 public housing units plus somo temporary accommodation (if B.0.0. decides that the lower floor tenants will have to be evacuated during demolition) will have to

be made available.

action be taken by B.0.0. in accordance with the H.K. Airport (Control of Obstructions) Ordinance Cap. 301 to reduce Building E to its prescribed height limit i.c. 150 ft. P.D.
