HONG KONG POWER STATION PROJECT

I hope you will not mind if I write to you direct on a small point of detail arising from your letter of 26 July to Mills Department of Industry) about the Prime Minister's meeting earlier that day with Sir Lawrence Kadoorie.

2

I suspect that at the beginning of the last sentence but two of your para 4 the word "not" may have been left out. What the Prime Minister is recorded as saying is the opposite of the second sentence of paragraph 3 of Peking telegram CREDA 64 of 21 July, on which I imagine the Prime Minister was drawing.

3 If I am right, you may wish to amend the record accordingly. If I am wrong, perhaps we should ask the Senior Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong to speak to Sir Lawrence Kadoorie to put the record straight.

4 I am sending a copy of this letter to John Stewart in the Hong Kong Department, FCO.
