BRIEF FOR THE CEGB

China Light and Power (CLP) is willing to place a number of orders with UK contractors to carry out an energy programme provided the price is acceptable and UK industry can satisfy CLP that the design, engineering, construction and operation of the hardware will be adequate. In the light of the CEGB's experience, their role is seen as follows:

Assistance to CLP in site selection and evaluation.

Assistance to CLP in determining the totality of items of hardware to be covered by the UK proposals.

Evaluation of the technical aspects of the proposals submitted by the UK companies.

Assistance if required by the Department of Industry on the technical aspects of contract negotiation.

Supervision of work in progress in the UK (quality control etc).

Quality control surveillance of erected plant in Hong Kong.

Assistance to CLP in the appointment and training
