I am pleased that you were encouraged by our interest. in Sir Lawrence's proposal for the involvement of UK companies in the building and equipping of a new power station in Hong Kong. are indeed grateful to Sir Lawrence and yourself for coming to see us and for the good will shown towards the UK. All those concerned here wish successfully to conclude business for this project and are making every endeavour towards this end.
I have read the photocopy article you sent describing the progress and agreement reached by the Japanese with the Peoples Republic of China. This is of concidezuble interost to us in view of Sir Lawrence's proposals and the possibility of the UK exporting mining equipment to China. I have passed the information on to my officials.
