In my minute to you of 1 June I stated that a Chinese delegation is coming to this country in October for an international conference on remote control and monitoring in mining. This information was obtained via a trade association which we normally find to be a reliable source.

2 We have now learned that no formal acceptance of the invitation (issued by the NCB) has yet been received. As far as we can accertain there is a very strong probability that the Chinese will accept, but at this stage we should not regard it as a certainty.
