HONG KONG: HOUSE OF COMMONS' PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION ON TEXTILES
1. Sir Anthony Royle has put down an Oral Parliamentary Question for answer on 9 November to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action he is taking to assist Hong Kong following the recent visit to London by the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, and the urgent action he requested regarding
textiles.
2. Sir Anthony Royle has asked two other Parliamentary Questions this year, both on matters of social welfare.
3. I submit a draft reply and notes for supplementaries. EID(E) and the Department of Trade concur. In view of the urgency you suggested that replies should be submitted direct and I am, therefore, exceptionally sending side copies to Mr Murray and PS/Lord Goronwy-Roberts.
