Please find enclosed a proposal for a Council Regulation maintaining the arrangements for the authorization of imports into the United Kingdom of certain articles of clothing, originating in Macao.

The purpose of this proposal is to maintain until 31 December 1977 the provisional arrangements introduced by Commission Regulation (EEC) No 1167/77 of 31 May 1977.

In accordance with Article 12(6) of Regulation (EEC) No 1439/74, the Council is required to confirm the measures introduced by the above Regulation within six weeks of their entry into force, i.e. by 17 July 1977.
