COLONIAL SECRETARIAT,

Lower Albert Road,

Hong Kong,

16th January, 1976.

You may recall that when I was in London in December. we discussed the replace- ment of the patrol craft which after 1st April will form the Naval element of the Hong Kong A Garrison. You referred me to CSO HQBF'3

letter 6060 HQB? of 4th November 1975 which said "we expect costs in respect of replacements during the 7-year period of the Agreement would be divided on the basis of the proportion of expenditure then existing under the DCA."

In view of the importance of this point, it would be useful if this understand- ing could be formaly confirmed and I should be grateful if you would be good enough to do so.

Robert Andrews, Esq.,

(L.M. Davies)

Assistant Under Secretary (GS)

Ministry of Defence.
