Taemployment (Building and Eugineering Workers)
Mr. Wyn Roberts asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many building and civil engineering workers were un- employed in Wales in September 1976 compared with the same month in each of the preceding tour years.

The following table shows the num bus of people registered as unemployed in Wales who lust worked in the con- „truction industry. Industrial analyses are now made quarterly and the latest is for August 1975:

Mr. Luard: There were 111 administra- Live officers on overseas terms of service at 1st October 1976. This represented 57 per cent. of the total number of administrative ollicers in the Hong Kong Government. The Sgures for each of the previous 10 years are necessarily detailed and are in the table below. The recruit- ment of expatriate officers is undertaken enly when local candidates are not avail- able in sufficient numbers and, in certain categories, in der to maintain the special relationship with Britain.

Mr. Wyn Roberts asked the Secretary of State for Wules what is the anticipated rate of decline in the secondary school population in Wales from 1979.
Mr. Barry Jones: It is c ́timated that the number of children at maintained secondary schools in Wales aged between 11 and 15 at the beginning of the school year will decline by 22 per cent. between 1979 and 19) and will ise by abou 25 per cent. baaren 1989 and 1999. The estimates necessardy become more speculative for the later period. It is not possible make meaningful esti- nates of the nuniber of secondary school upils staying en beyond the statutory school age.
