HONG KONG: MP'S LETTER FROM MR DOUGLAS HURD

25 1. Mr Douglas Hurd MP (Conservative Mid Oxon) wrote to

Lord Goronwy-Roberts on 20 April to report on the meeting which he and Mrs Thatcher had earlier this month in Hong Kong with representatives of the Heung Yee Kuk, to say that he would like to offer hospitality to the Kuk delegation which is at present in

the UK.

2. On seeing Mr Hurd's letter, the department contacted the Hong Kong Government Office in London, who are arranging the delegation's programme, and asked them to arrange for Mr Hurd to see the delegation. This has now been done and I understand that Mr Hurd will meet the delegation at 11.15 am on Wednesday 27 April.

3. I recommend that Lord Goronwy-Robert's Private Secretary write as in the attached draft.
