Robert Parry Esq House of Commons
LONDON SW1
Lord Goronwy-Roberts
You wrote to David Owen on 9 March about
the forthcoming visit to this country by a
delegation from the Heung Yee Kuk in Hong Kong.
I recall your question in January about
a delegation from the Kuk being received by
an FCO Minister and approved the answer that you
were given. I am perfectly ready to meet the
delegation. We had already heard from the
Hong Kong Government about the delegation's
visit prior to receiving your letter but
there has, clearly, been some uncertainty about
the timing of the visit. We have checked the
position with the Hong Kong Government in the
light of your information that the delegation
was going to arrive on 2 April. They have now
told us that the delegation will leave Hong
Kong on 23 April and would like to see me early
in the week beginning Monday, 25 April. I
understand that you are aware of this change of
timing. I suggest that the delegation might
April or, failing that,
come to see me at
/ on
April.
