2. The PUS cannot see Sir M MacLehose any earlier than 23 November: the Chief Clark is out of the Office 21 23 November and Mr Murray will probably be away for all the week beginning 21 November. It is, of course, impossible to arrange an appointment with the new Political Adviser until Mr Stephen comes into the Office on 23 September.

3. Miss Turner, the SS's Assistant Private Secretary, has asked for an early submission to the Secretary of State to gain the latter's approval in principle for the Governor's call on him. I shall set this in hand.
