1. We have just been informed by Mr Goldsmith in South East Asia Department that Lord Goronwy-Roberts will be visiting South East Asia in July. He is expected to travel to London Singapore - Manila Kuala Lumpur, returning home either from Singapore or Hong Kong, and possibly including Jakarta in the itinerary.

Getting

The purpose of this minute is to say that as far as our copy of Cinancial estimates for 1977/78 are concerned, there are no me estimated by SEAD for this visit. However, I understand from Mr Davið. Hong Kong Department that (on the assumption that Lord Goronwy-Roberts ourns via Hong Kong) Hong Kong Department do not think it very likel at there will be a separate visit by the Minister of State to Hong Yong within this financial year; for such a visit Hong Kong Departmen ad prudently put the sum of £4,560 to cover the cost of the Minister and two officials, the visit lasting approximately 4 days.

3. For the South East Asia visit, this figure would almost certainly be over-run, but probably not by very much. Miss Casey can give you ar estimate of travel costs, for example.
