In the previous report, account was only taken of additional places provided by the introduction of flotation and extended day operations in government and aided schools. This report includes places which the Director of Education considers could be made available by the introduction of bi-sessionalism, as an alternative to extended day, in some schools.
The figures for Form I-III places in Category B(i) for 1978/79 and 1979/80 are higher than those given in the previous table; allowance has now been made for the fact that new schools open with some classes at the Form II level as well as Form I.
The "supply" categories have been amended and most of the figures in each of the categories have changed. As these figures differ greatly from those in the previous report (because of the revised format) no attempt has been made to explain the individual differences.
A general indication is given in notes 7 and 9 of the main reasons for the changes.
