Members of the Jury, you will remember that, because he
is telling you he did not leave with the knife, and he is
a witness in the case, and his evidence like any other
witness can be believed, and that piece of evidence is in
conflict with the police evidence, because the police told
you that the knife was found in his trousers pocket, so
now you have a conflict which you have to resolve. There
is no guarantee, and you have to remember that, that the
evidence of a policeman is not necessarily true, and
there is no reason for you to say that the evidence of an
accused is necessarily a lie. You have got to weigh it.
