I am so sorry you were not informed that Erskine 3urrows and Larry Tacklyn are to be executed in Bermuda.

As you may know, after their appeals were dismissed earlier this year, the then Acting Governor, after consultation with the Bermuda Prerogative of Mercy Committee, considered whether he should exercise clemency under the powers of pardon or reprieve delegated to him and decided on 27 April 1977 that the law should take its course. The accused applied to the

rivy Council for leave to appeal to the Council against sentence and conviction, but leave was refused on 6 October 1977.

A petition was sent to Hi. The Queen, signed by about 15% of the adult population of Bermuda, appealing against the application of the death sentence to these two men but after full consideration of all the circumstances the secretary of Stute was unable to advise The Queen to intervene and the petition was accordingly rejected.

The two accused are accordingly to be executed on 2 December in Bermuda,
