The Cabinet Office have told me that the next meeting of DOP will probably take place before Cabinet on Thursday, 13 October. The subjects for discussion will be:

(1) Falkland Islands and HMS Endurance (paper by FCO) and

(2)

Capital Punishment in the Dependent Territories (currently under consideration in GEN 99).-

Other subjects marked down as possibilities for September/October in Mr Bryars' letter of 26 August (attached) can either be dealt with out of Committee or be put back to a later meeting of DOP. However, if any recipient of this minute thinks that there is urgent business which should not be left until after mid-October, would he let me know.
