3. I should point out, however, that the circumstances of Rhodesia may make this a rather more ticklish problem than elsewhere. As in the other dependencies, public opinion is probably largely in favour of the retention and use of capital punishment and there have f the past and are likely to be in the future some very nasty murders with a political element where there was a very strong public sentiment in favour of letting the law take its course.
