It has occurred to me that the Legal Advisers in the office may now wish to see the Notes of Evidence written by Mr Justice Seaton and by the Chief Justice during the trials over which they respectively presided, in addition to seeing the papers I sent to you with my letter of 14 April. I am thus forwarding a copy of them to Martin Ridgeon. I should perhaps add that any copies which may be required in connection with the application for special leave to appeal will of course follow separately, together with whatever other documents are needed for the purpose.

Finally, I chanced to learn today that there has apparently been at least one hanging in a dependent territory about a decade later than your 3 March letter stated. For the (black Bermudian) Director of Public Relations here has just told me that when he was working in the British Virgin Islands some five years ago a convicted murderer was hanged there. I questioned him at some length on the point, but he was in no doubt whatever as to the facts; and as he is a very intelligent, sensible person I think he will certainly have got them right.
Yours ever
Peter.
