We spoke regarding Ottawa's request at folio 40 for informa- tion on progress towards independence of the British Dependencies which the High Commission can pass to the Canadian Department of External Affairs.
2. As you will know the Canadians are particularly interested in developments in the Caribbean and we should be as helpful as possible to DEA.

You agreed to take on the request and I suggest that you may find it easier to tackle the request by drafting a reply which might include columns showing the name of the Territory, the date of independ(if known) and any comment. This might look something like this:-

5. Miss Stoddart, Assistant in WIAD, should have a chance to comment on your draft before it issues. You might enquire from her whether it would be appropriate to include notes on WIAS developments.
