Mr Cortazzi has endorsed action proposed by Mr Stanley that a considered analysis should be made of the events leading to the recent overthrow of Mr Mancham in the Seychelles with a view to

establishing whether there are any conclusions to be drawn from the coup d'etat which might be relevant to any of our other dependencies which achieve independence.

I would be grateful if you would let me have any considered assessment which you may have available about the reasons for, and the of, the Seychelles coup.
