10th April, 1976.

The Home Affairs Department,

Hong Kong.

Dear Sir,

The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Murray MacLehose, is a sage, able, upright and determined leader who works hard for the benefit of the community. When he came to take up his office in 1971, Hong Kong was in a muddled state. His Excellency took immediate steps to set down various policies, firstly to improve the situation of law and order, and, secondly, to launch the Clean Hong Kong Campaign. As a result, the people of Hong Kong have been able to enjoy a better living environment. Then came the implementation of the compulsory education system and the establishment of a much-needed housing scheme. In general, all the policies adopted were accomplished with outstanding results. Furhtermore, at the time of a world-wide economic recession, the government gave a timely helping hand to the industrial and business sectors, which has enabled Hong Kong to tide over the economic crisis and to make quick progress on the road to recovery. Social order is becoming more established in the wake of a prospering community. As the people of Hong Kong attribute such accomplishments to the meritorious leadership of His Excellency, they are apprehensive to learn that His Excellency will be retiring next year. In view of this, our Association, with the support of all our members, would venture to respectfully submit our sincere request for the extension of His Excellency's term of office so that the present state of stability and prosperity may be continued. It is hoped that our view would be reflected to the authorities concerned for consideration. It would indeed be a great blessing to Hong Kong if approval would be granted to our request.

HWP/sl

Yours faithfully,

Lee Chung-yin (Chairman), Lee Fook-wing,

Lee Yun-man,

Lee Sai-yik,(Vice Chairmen)

of Lee Clansmen's Association.
