i enclose a copy of a self-explanatory letter to me from ir Cheatle in the Cabinet Office whom I asked to look into your queries. You will see that his researches have taken him through the Cabinet Office, the Colonial Office, the War Office, the Imperial War Museum and to a number of books. I am afraid I can add nothing to the conclusion he has reached in the last paragraph of his letter.
