PARLIAMENTARY INTEREST IN HONG KONG

1.

From January to May this year, 82 questions were raised in Parliament which represents approximately 10% of total questions.

2. There was wide press coverage of the Fabian Pamphlet which, apart from stimulating Parliamentary Questions, led to letters to Ministers from Members of Parliament, some of whom sought and were granted interviews to discuss the Hong Kong situation.

3. The debate in the Lords of 1 May showed that there was great interest in the Lords on the problems of Hong Kong.
