Other information

Group were rescued by British vessel "M.V. Cree" on 2.6.76 and taken to Singapore but were not permitted to land. They left Singapore on 5.6.76 for hong Kong but permission to land the group was not granted until 23.6.76. ISS is taking care of them.

(1) 39 of them were selected by US au thorities for possible admission to US (2) Those selected would be allowed to disembark for further transfer to US

(3) Hong Kong is not prepared to acce the group but would have been prepared to fly them to Burma

(4) Burma is not prepared to accept the

group

(5) Japan is reportedly considering pos sible acceptance of the group

(6) UNHCR Correspondent in Japan has been given necessary instruction
