Mr Frank Hooley (Sheffield, Heeley): To ask the Secretary of Stato for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make a statement concerning sovereignty over Hong Kong, in the light of the principles set out by the People's Republic of China in UN document A/AC109/396.

The views of Her Majesty's Government about the legal

status of Hong Kong have been in no way affected by what was

stated in the UN document referred to by my honourable Friend.

Mer Majesty's Government have no doubts about their sovereignty

over Hong Kong and are unable to accept any differing views

expressed by other governments.7
