PQ BY MR BRUCE GROCOTT: THE DEPENDENT TERRITORI ES
1.
Mr Grocott's Question asks us to allocate each of the remaining Dependent Territories to one of three groups, a task which would be difficult to do for our own use, let alone for publication in Hansard. The attached draft attempts to cover the ground without being too long-winded and without laying ourselves any hostages to fortune. Rather than predict the future of every territory, a few uncontentious examples are given, the rest being covered by very general wording.
2.
The draft reply has been agreed within the Division and with other interested Departments. I attach for information a copy of the last general Question on the Dependencies (21 January 1976).
