1. Thank you very much for your letter of 26 October about the schedules provided by Ardley. As it happens, no harm was done because the original set of schedules did not arrive until the first meeting of our Standing Committee was half over and so they were not distributed to members. I have, incidentally, just sent copies of the minutes to the Governor. The next meeting of the Committee will be held in late- February when (horror) it will be the budget that will take up all the time and so I do not think there will be much consideration of the building programmes before about June.

2. Hong Kong now seems far away and I am settling down to the winter's grind. I must, however, say how grateful I am to you and all the officers of the Hong Kong Government who received me with such friendliness and generous frankness.
